Links

March 30th, 2004

I’m going to try and recommend links on a more regular basis. God knows, I spend enough of my time surfing around and I come across interesting things often enough. Here are a few sites I’ve been checking out recently:

  • I’ve just read "Dude, where’s my country?" by Michael Moore, and am feeling more than usually cynical about the state of things:
  • Memoryblog covers similar ground to Moore and has easy to verify citations. "Rescuing Knowledge, freeing information" goes the strapline, and indeed the site covers various goings-on that the US Govenment prefers we don’t know about, and the press chooses not to cover (readers of Moore will note a little right-wing / Murdoch conspiracy theory undertone creeping in here).
  • Particularly compelling for me is their running piece on US military personnel wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq. For more permanent material like this check the Memory Hole home page.
  • On a similar tip: Ethel the blog. Nice phot of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam, December 1983.
  • Back in the world of consuming without question, Gizmodo, the gadgets weblog, is a great place to feel like you should be spending more on technology. Although not necessarily, as this amusing way to stash your travellers cheques demonstrates.
  • Finally, here’s a list of fellow bloggers in Brighton.
