- Jet stream problems: BBC weatherman Michael Fish tells us that we’re not having a bad summer at all, just an average one. Yeah, right.
- New iPod
models on the way:
"new models will be available in a variety of new colors, expected to include purple, orange, and yellow, as well as larger hard drive sizes"
Ironically, Lara’s pink iPod mini which I ordered prior to her birthday (in March) finally seems to be coming sometime early August. Techlist.co.uk are definitely not recommended for iPods, although in their favour they did finally respond when I threatened to report them to the FBI’s Internet Fraud Complaint Centre – a url worth remembering.
- The art of the ironic movie cameo: Only a couple of days ago I’d been laughing with my brother about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Airplane!. Looks like it might have been the genesis of a new movie phenomena.
- Dictionary.com – looked up today, so far: metastasized, metier. Essential.
- The implausibility of the death star trash compactor. Of course, I’m immediately reminded of a similar discussion in the Kevin Smith movie Clerks. There, the topic was the civilian contractor deaths that must have occured when the rebels destroyed the second Death Star. Via Russell.
