Comic Sans

February 23rd, 2005

Today’s posting comes to you in guest font Comic Sans. Offensive I know – I apologise, but bear with me.

Earlier today at work I received a Health and Safety communication written in Comic Sans. I had to double-take. Why would anyone use Comic Sans for any formal communication whatsoever, let alone something that ought to be taken seriously like a Health and Safety notice?

Comic Sans does not communicate a friendly tone of voice. Nor is Comic Sans a chirpy way of adding self-expression to your notices. Use of Comic Sans does not convey your fun personality and, in short, will not make people want to spend time with you.

Please feel free, dear Comic Sans user, to not use this objectionable typeface when communicating with me.

Like they say on ban Comic Sans, stop the madness, ban Comic Sans.
