• Playlimit. My worst nightmare as a child seems like a brilliant idea now. And if they’ve been up too late on the PS3, get them up with the sonic hand-grenade

• Got to love material science. Soft helmet hardens on impact.
• Robot with an iPod heart. Not this robot.
• HDTV formats: 1080p vs. 1080i. If you’re not interested in this yet, you will be in a year or so.
• There’s been a lot of traffic about flexible electronic paper recently. It’s really going to change packaging, newspapers, subscriptions… Imagine carrying around a single sheet that gets updated with the Times every morning then turns into your book. Reading New Scientist this morning I was thinking how annoying it is to have acronyms constantly expanded. I know what DARPA stands for; wouldn’t it be good to tap the word with my stylus and permanently contract the expansion.
• Hacking coke machines.
• File under nostalgia. Cassette Jam. I used Sony UX-Pro’s with the ceramic tape guide. There’s something aesthetically friendly about the shape of a cassette.

  Operatives working for the Central Intelligence Agency allegedly (pdf) plant a bug in a Canadian computer system purchased to control the [Soviet] trans-Siberian gas pipeline … The resulting event is reportedly the largest non-nuclear explosion in the planet’s history.

• OSX86: Mac OSX on an Intel machine. Props to Roberto (flash) for staying up late and getting this to work.
• E-bore-ometer. My rating: suprisingly only “A bit of an e-bore”
• And finally, top 10 movie robots of all-time. We’re fans of Robby at robotperson, but no Huey Dewey And Louie?
