Robotperson waits
club lounge has free sandwiches
soon be taking off.

Free sandwiches, but no free wi-fi to my annoyance. But access here in the Cerulean Tower is a very reasonable 1050¥ (about £5) for 24hrs, so here I am, in Japan, making my first post from foreign soil.

Observations so far:

  • BA staff exude an air of forced politeness. They know they can’t be rude to you, but they resent this deeply and make lots of effort to communicate it to you in non-verbal ways
  • Japanese cab doors open and close magically on their own. Attempting to manually close the door will cause your driver to become annoyed
  • Your umbrella should be left outside of the shop (where it will not be stolen), or furled into one of the ubiquitous plastic umbrella bags (which are slightly too small)

Yes, it has been miserably rainy today, but even soaked clothes and wet feet have not dampened the adventuring. First destination: Harajuku, which feels like a safer and more boutique-dense lower-east side. Every other shop was worth going into. With one pair of kicks, 1 t-shirt and 5 action figures so far (not to mention some cute pick-ups for Rooster), it’s safe to say that what is essentially a shopping holiday has got well and truly underway.

The weather has cleared now and the view is spectacular.
