- Real men play Gradius
…that’s my goal, to complete the game as the game originally intended me to. It’s an overwhelming challenge and sometimes gets me hurling controllers across the room, but it’s a very compelling experience, trying to best a game like Gradius … Nowadays there are virtually no games that are, for the most part, impossible to finish in a single session. Completing a game comes down to how much time you’ve got on hand rather than skill.
- Usability News has an interesting article (for user experience professionals, anyway) on eye gaze patterns while searching vs. browsing a website. Summary: users follow Nielsen’s “F” pattern whilst both browsing and searching.
- Really Wild Flowers. Probably the nicest looking website I’ve seen in the last 12 months. The IA is pretty good too, although not to say there isn’t anything I would change
- Robotic mule! I think that deserved the exclaimation.
- Pollocks (flash required)
- Gods, not another new iPod? Via Sprinkle Brigade.
- Unspeak is my new favourite website. Stephen Poole (who used to write in Edge) dissects the spin, misdirection and obsfucation we are continually subjected to by our politicians and media.
President Bush’s State of the Union address last night contained much crucial information, particularly the climactic assurance that: “The State of our Union is strong.” - which will have reassured the millions worrying that California was planning to secede
And finally …Stef chips-in with this smart brace:
- The budget graph (flash required). Phenominally detailed infographic of the US 2007 ‘discretionary’ budget. Everything fits in so beautifully - I’m very impressed. Count the different ways in which it communicates data and tell me in the comments.
- Sneaker wallpaper for your desktop. Although being continually reminded of the existence of those olive and orange Jordan 5’s could be bad for my wallet.
Thanks Stef.
