Not forgotten
August 8th, 2007
Hey you. Sorry to have been out of touch recently. I know it’s been busy for both of us, but I’m really going to try this time. You’ve got to make an effort, too, though. Your job is to keep coming back for more. I know it’s what we both want.
According to Wikipedia, the lyrics to Afro-left were made-up nonsense. I choose to believe this is simply wiki vandalism. Djum-Djum is actually instructing me to dance like a fool. Incabungu … incabungu … incabungu … incabungu-cu-asa.
Chez Pearson, things are ticking over nicely. Steve, H and baby Sam chose the nicest Saturday of the year to visit last weekend. Sam is a very cute ten weeks old, but he’s alarmingly floppy compared to Roo. People say that you forget how small and fragile they are, but it’s true. Roo is a remarkably robust button. We all had bagels on the beach then went to Pride.
Pride means loads and loads of Gays in Preston Park. It’s the biggest party of the year in Brighton. I loaded up the cool-bag and a blanket, and we camped (teh!) in some shade, sipping beers, watching chaps in chaps go by. Somehow the weather is always perfect for Pride. God loves the Gays. Perhaps Glastonbury should go homo. This year’s foray into the Wild Fruit tent (logo: two berries and a banana) was short lived. It wasn’t the same without Julian and his top off, although Steve got plenty of attention.
Leftfield: Check-one live at Homelands, 2000 . Mike downloaded this set from the Mixing Bowl. I can’t stop listening to it.
Family Johnstone headed North, then Lara and I rounded-off a perfect day with a Shahi curry. It was an almost healthy break compared with the loner cuisine we’ve been sampling of late. We’re reduced to nuking micro meals whilst our new kitchen is fitted (middle class lifestyle affection #6: check!), and I have to admit, I’ve been rather enjoying them. The airline food thing is so luxuriously lazy. And I’m allowed TV dinners. Trash volume has increased dramatically though. Oh, carbon footprint…
Right, that’s your lot for now. But we both agree? More effort all round. We can make it work.
