Via the magic of the WordPress falbum plugin I’ve added my Flickr photostream to the site. It was more complicated than I expected, and I’ve still some styling to do, but the results are well worth it. The random shots over on the right have already yielded some nice juxtapositions (Tokyo International Forum vs. Mesquita in Cordoba? Mesquita wins!). Hit refresh a few times. You can see all my Flickr photosets on the new /photos page.

This enhancement has nothing whatsoever to do with wanting to show off my daughter without sending visitors away from the site. Honest.

I’m particularly impressed with the Flickr tag cloud, a navigation mode I’ve been thinking about a lot recently (particularly in the context of a media player). Sufficiently impressed to spend a morning spring-cleaning my tags, anyway. I still haven’t decided exactly how I should be tagging, but since an enormous, shallow cloud seems less useful than a narrower cloud with lots of scale, I’ve been keeping my tags fairly tangible (Tokyo, Rita) and steering clear of the abstract (red, regret). I may change my mind again on this and incur another morning of work.

In the mean time I challenge you to a stare-out competition with the Mule.
